Latest update on New Hall & Clergyman
Our plans to replace the church hall in the corner of the churchyard are reaching fruition.
The District Council have given planning permission subject to one or two minor restrictions and we are now in the process of preparing an application to the Diocesan authorities to undertake the work.
We hope that we will have enough grant money to top up our funds so that we can start work in the summer and complete the new building before Christmas.
We are also in the process of searching for a new clergyman to serve the parish. As with all jobs, a new job specification has to be written and agreed, especially in line with the reorganisation of the ministry in our part of the world.
The Church Council has consulted with the Archdeacon and the Bishop of Southampton to produce a guide to the parish and people of Marchwood as well, together with our hopes and needs for the right person.
We hope that the post will be advertised in the Summer and a new clergyman will probably be in place by next January.
