Forget the credit crunch!
Look no further than Marchwood Village Hall. It is an economical option for all your parties, wedding receptions, and all manner of celebratory get togethers!
There are kitchen facilities in all of our hall/rooms and crockery is available, if required, at no extra charge.
If you are having a child’s party then the soft play equipment, owned by the hall, is available to hire for £20.
The Maple room has a well maintained, sprung floor.
Perfect for dancing!
On that note, the Country and Western evenings happen on a monthly basis with the occasional charity bash thrown in for good measure, so you can come and scoot boot to your hearts content to the live bands organised by the Phoenix Country Music club.
(These are usually held on the first Saturday)
For those who prefer more of a glide, Graham and Vera run a monthly Tea Dance on a Saturday Afternoon.
This event is really well supported, however we would like to see more couples from Marchwood.
Last but not least, Shelley Lozano runs a Belly Dancing class every Tuesday afternoon during term time.
Belly dancing provides a good workout and keeps you supple in a fun way.
The toddler groups have been very busy and at Easter, older children were able to do craft work and listen to stories in the Oak room.
Over 130 children attended from the age of 0-11 yrs.
We intend to run these activities over two weeks during the summer holidays.
Look on the Village Hall notice board for dates and times.
Saturdads is growing like Topsy!
Currently sponsored by Surestart who have agreed to fund the session until October.
However, in order for this unique venture to continue, fund raising needs to happen.
There will be a stall promoting Saturdads at the village fete next to the Community Association book stall.
In June, Saturdads will be having a family picnic at Lloyds Recreation ground, weather permitting!
Normally Saturdads consist of the male adults within the family and children 0-6yrs.
The sessions are held on the last Saturday of the month and bacon butties for the grown ups are available with a healthy breakfast for the children.
Events to look forward to are a charity table top sale on 6th June, 10am-12.30pm.
We are also hosting the, by now, annual Pamper evening on the 18th September.
(more details to follow in the Autumn edition of this magazine)
The Village hall caters for everyone, of all ages, for a huge range of interests and is in the hub of the community and central to Village life.
(Currently the Marchwood Community Association and the Parish Council are in discussion for the PC’s office future move to a central Village location).
The Hall can only be run with the support of a volunteer committee and a dedicated staff.
There is always room on the committee for enthusiastic new members.
We believe that the Village hall offers a pleasing environment for village organisations to meet, family parties and competitive rates of hire.
